Accessibility

Last updated: 18 April 2026.

We believe that every user deserves an equally good digital experience, regardless of the device they use or their physical abilities. That is why we built the Kulturni element website with inclusivity in mind at every stage of development — from typography choices to code structure.

Standard and target

To ensure our site is accessible and usable for everyone, we have followed the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

AA

Target level

WCAG 2.1 Level AA

Level AA represents a high degree of accessibility, encompassing requirements for colour contrast, keyboard navigation, alternative text and many other criteria.

Measures taken

Specific technical and design measures implemented on our site:

Semantic HTML5

Use of correct structural elements (<main>, <nav>, <header>, <article>, <section>) allows screen readers to accurately identify page regions.

Alternative texts

All informative images have descriptive alt attributes. Decorative images are marked with an empty alt="" so that assistive technologies skip them.

Colour contrast

The contrast ratio of text against background meets the minimum WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). Contrast was verified using Chrome DevTools and WebAIM tools.

Keyboard navigation

All interactive components (links, buttons, forms, menu) are accessible and usable using the keyboard alone. Visible focus indicators are present on all elements.

Text scaling

The site supports text enlargement up to 200% in browsers without loss of content or functionality. Use of relative units (rem, em) ensures adaptability.

Full responsiveness

The site has been tested across a wide range of devices — desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones — in various resolutions and orientations.

ARIA attributes

Where semantic HTML is insufficient, we use ARIA labels (aria-label, aria-expanded, role) to improve communication with assistive technologies.

Descriptive links

All hyperlinks have meaningful descriptions. We avoid generic text such as "click here" — instead, link text clearly describes the destination or content.

Current compliance status

Main pages — AA level Embedded third-party content — partial

We believe the majority of our site conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We treat accessibility as an ongoing process, not a one-time task — we regularly test pages with automated tools (Lighthouse, axe DevTools) and manual review.

Known limitations

Certain embedded third-party content — YouTube videos, Instagram posts, interactive maps — may have accessibility limitations not fully within our control. We are working with providers of these services to improve available alternatives.

Tested assistive technologies

Our site has been tested with the following screen readers and assistive technologies:

NVDA (Windows) JAWS (Windows) VoiceOver (macOS / iOS) TalkBack (Android) Keyboard navigation Google Lighthouse
