On Friday, March 16 at 7 PM, within the season “Music Vaults of Belgrade” the Belgrade City Museum and the Cultural Element presented young Serbian artists gathered around the project “A Weill Ago”. The program for soprano, piano and electronics is inspired by Kurt Weil’s personality and music. The Weil’s poems, as well as the voices of Lotte Lenya, Bertolt Brecht, Danilo Kiš…, the sounds of childhood and the sounds of war, archival footage and personal history, arise, repel and seduce through sung, spoken, recorded and collected passages. Thus, the built-in electroacoustic layer Ana Gnjatović contextualises and comments on Weil’s poems performed by soprano Tijana Đuričić with the piano accompaniment of Milivoje Veljić. Together, these two layers make a cabaret bitter-sweet sound art narrative about art and responsibility.
