The "Awakening of Culture" performance, solemnly performed on 27 June 2013, in the heart of Belgrade along Knez Mihailova Street, represents the cornerstone and the first official project with which the Kulturni element association began its work and mission. Conceived as a striking artistic act in public space, this event was dedicated to presenting sublime cultural values and emphasizing the essential importance of art for society.
In synergy with its members and numerous friends from the art world, Kulturni element aimed to awaken the cultural awareness of citizens through this performance. The central idea was the performance of the composition "Cultural Obsession", an original work by Tadija Miletić, through which young artists wanted to express their stance on culture as a necessary, comprehensive, and essentially beautiful component of human existence. The visual identity of the performance, where all participants were dressed in white, further emphasized the message of the purity and sublimity of art, as well as the ideal of artistic perfection to be strived for.
The event itself began in front of the Belgrade City Library building, where a symbolic dance by two ballet dancers carrying a sceptre – the emblem of culture – marked the beginning of the artistic awakening. The culmination of the event took place at Republic Square, where the sceptre of culture was solemnly laid atop a pyramid made of the participants' human bodies.
