"Festival Awakening" is a distinctive event that marks the 40th anniversary of the Festival of Monodrama and Pantomime in a unique and different way. This cultural and artistic happening invites passers-by through a musical performance to become part of a great artistic procession — a symbolic awakening of the festival spirit and an announcement of its forty-year continuity.
A large number of participants, dressed in white, performed the composition "Cultural Obsession", composed by Tadija Miletić. Accompanied by the musical ensemble and choir, they marched in carnival fashion along Zemun Quay, joined by other stage artists, festival banners, mimes, animators and others who, through music, theatre and interaction, invited spectators to join them.
This performance marked the ceremonial opening of one of the most important events in the world of monodrama and pantomime, highlighting its long tradition and vitality through direct contact with the public. Through live, immediate artistic action in public space, "Festival Awakening" succeeded in using the street as a stage, transforming passers-by into participants and Zemun Quay into an open-air theatre.
