This project was realized through the Belgrade Summer Musical Evenings at the Museum of Vuk and Dositej, and within the broader program "Museum in the Heart of the City" as part of the manifestation "Museums of Serbia, from 10 to 10". On the initiative of the National Museum in Belgrade, the Cultural Element organized a musical evening "From Generation to Generation". In accordance with the work of Vuk and Dositej on preserving folk heritage, we presented young artists - students of the Music School "Mokranjac", specializing in performing Serbian traditional music.
The performance was complemented by colorful costumes by Prof. Branko Tadić, an ethnomusicologist and head of the department, who guided the audience through tradition, old times, language, and customs. The focus was on songs from Kosovo and Metohija, as well as numerous songs from Western and Eastern Serbia and Bosnia, so the audience could get acquainted with the rich Serbian tradition.
The audience constantly cheered the young artists with great applause, and we were especially pleased by the presence of numerous children in the audience who watched the entire performance with the same attention. By creating such programs, the Cultural Element hopes to create a future in which we will all love, appreciate, and know our tradition.
