With the concert "Notes Before Sleep", held on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the Museum of Vuk and Dositej, the first season of the series of summer concerts within the manifestation "Museum in the Heart of the City" was ceremoniously closed. This event was the finale of the successful cycle "Belgrade Summer Musical Evenings".
At the very beginning of the event, the audience was addressed by Lidija Ham, PR manager of the National Museum, and Dina Čubrilović, music editor of the Cultural Element. They summarized the results of this successful summer collaboration that made the museum courtyard at 21 Gospodar Jevremova Street the capital's new artistic oasis.
The main star of the evening was accordionist Marko Lukić, an artist who confirmed his musical talent by winning numerous awards, including high honors at the World Cup in Finland and the World Trophy in Switzerland. The program was inspired by the diary of the 10th-century Japanese writer Sei Shōnagon, after which the concert was named.
Through carefully selected works by Bach, Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, and Kusyakov, Lukić guided the audience through the writer's poetic lists, reviving the spirit of the golden age of Japanese poetry. Each musical segment corresponded to a specific emotional category of the notes, thus beautifully rounding off the first musical summer of the Cultural Element and the National Museum.
