Within the concert season "Musical Vaults of Belgrade", we hosted the famous British choir "Voce chamber choir" from London at the Residence of Princess Ljubica. Under the baton of the world-renowned Suzi Digby, this eminent ensemble gave an evening of top choral music, combining world and domestic musical heritage.
The reason for this concert was a significant jubilee – the four hundredth anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. On that occasion, the choir performed musical settings of Shakespeare's sonnets, while the Belgrade audience had the special honor of hearing the works of our Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac performed by this British group. The choir "Voce chamber choir", founded in 2003, is known for performances all over the planet, including a notable performance with Mick Jagger in Hyde Park.
The ceremonial event was also attended by the then British Ambassador Denis Keefe and his wife, which further emphasized the international importance of this cooperation. The narrator of the evening was the president of the organization Tadija Miletić, who guided the audience through verses and notes, while the ambiance was completed by a light installation created by members of the Cultural Element.
