On July 15, 2017, in the crowded SANU Gallery, the Cultural Element organization had the honor of opening the National Museum's exhibition "Edgar Degas. Moments of Observation" with its performance. Specially for this occasion, a unique music and dance event was prepared, which was also a great surprise of the evening.
Following one of the main leitmotifs of Degas's work, ballerinas Marina Miletić and Dušanka Kaličanin brought the famous paintings of the great impressionist to life with their graceful movements. While the dancers evoked the atmosphere of Parisian ballet halls and rehearsals, pianist Dina Čubrilović musically rounded off the performance by playing compositions by Degas's French contemporaries – Debussy and Fauré.
After great applause and numerous positive reactions from the surprised audience, the opening ceremony officially continued. Academician Dušan Otašević, director of the SANU Gallery, first greeted the attendees. After the address by the director of the National Museum, Bojana Borić Brešković, the president of SANU, academician Vladimir S. Kostić, officially declared the exhibition open.
