Biljana Hajduković is an organiser at Kulturni element and a production student at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts. She builds her artistic path through a constant interweaving of disciplines — music, design, literature and contemporary circus — which over time have naturally converged in production.

Artistic path

It all began at primary music school, where she learned the violin — the instrument she now also uses as a prop in her performance “Petra”. In this original work she explores the myth of Sisyphus through contemporary circus, looking at how classical motifs can be transformed into physical theatre.

She formalised her visual expression at the “Bogdan Šuput” School of Design in Novi Sad, focusing on design and murals. That experience enabled her to secure funding for, and paint, public spaces through a number of projects, while her contemporary circus performances led to collaborations with many theatre schools.

Education

A need for a deeper understanding of text and narrative took her to comparative literature at the Faculty of Philosophy, where she gained a theoretical grounding in the structure of written works. She now studies production at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts, seeing production as the field that lets her bring all her knowledge together.

Production experience

She gained practical experience organising performances and working on international projects, such as a collaboration with a Slovenian theatre on a street-theatre piece performed in Pula.
